Announcing...The 9 to 5 Alliance!

Remember earlier this week I mentioned I was going to be launching a new project of sorts? Well..it's here!

I've been talking to some of my friends about ways to give my blog some direction, and what they'd like to see from it in terms of inspiration and help.

And the results were pretty much the same. While a lot of mommy blogs are at the top of our favorites list, it seems like there are few that cater to working girls. Young women, who are not necessarily career-driven but driven by the necessity to pay the bills. Who love their life outside of work, and look for ways to enhance it. (Disclaimer: I am a HUGE advocate of stay-at-home moms. I have every intention of being one once the opportunity presents itself. No disrespect intended!)

I'm not saying I have all sorts of wise advice, or that my life situation is the most common in the world. And truthfully, this blog (if it lasts that long) will eventually morph into a mommy blog, because Scott and I do plan to start a family once Scott is done with school. But in the meantime, childless, petless, dirt poor, and non-home-owning is where I'm at.

Which means you working ladies have something to look forward to. Things like easy packed-lunch ideas (because we ALL know that frozen meals are highly overrated and not satisfying.), tips to make the work-life balance a bit easier, pick-me-ups for that 3pm slump, and other things that I honestly haven't thought of yet.

But! It's my hope that this little project will evolve - which requires your feedback. What would you like to read more about? Suggestions?

I'm excited about the 9 to 5 Alliance and can't wait to see where it goes!

In the meantime, here are some little snippets from an awesome book called "The Artist in the Office: How to Creatively Survive and Thrive Seven Days a Week" by Summer Pierre. (You can buy it online here, or check out her blog here!)

  2. And I love your blog Kelli! :) I think the Project Life idea is brilliant. And I think this concept won't discriminate too much against mommies in general, but is just moreso something different from talking about cloth diapering and such (and again I say to my mommy friends...no offense intended! :) )

  3. Excellent idea, Megan! I think you'll fill a hole left by other blogs (like, um, mine! lol).

  4. Love the idea, AS you well know. It's definitely a gap out there in the blogsophere, for us not-yet-moms that love the idea of motherhood someday but want feel a little less than when all the blogs we read are about... being a mom! Every life stage has its triumphs and challenges and hilarious stories. Love that you're creating a little community of sympathy and encouragement and snark for us working ladies.

  5. Congrats on the new direction! I think your blog will definitely fill a niche. And I'm totally excited about your lunch ideas! We moms get bored of the same ol' lunches too. :)

  6. I'm in! I, too, get a little lost in all the new mommy blogs. Speaking from the "I'm a momma but the rooms are empty because they are both out finding their own place in the world" perspective. While this is a truly a happy, happy place, I still need some direction from time to time - especially when I still think about lunches for work. Thanks, Megs. I am a BIG fan.
