For me??

I had planned on posting something cute and creative today, however, my already-hectic work week ended on a high note with me re-straining my wrist while moving and re-arranging too many large files. Note: my right wrist, with which I highly value to function normally.

Thus, a lot of typing and mouse-clicking is not feeling so good right now. I'm off to curl up with four wonderful things:

1. Chinese takeout
2. My bathrobe
3. A chick flick
4. A large glass of wine.

In the meantime, here's a little funny that I'm sure most of you will appreciate right about now, courtesy of the hilarious Natalie Dee.

Happy Friday everyone!

Crocodile Mile

Please visit this link to an article on Weather.com, and then join with me as I bend over and kiss my butt goodbye.

If you need me, I'll be using my slip'n'slide to get to work tomorrow. Maybe it will be as fun as Crocodile Mile?!

Doubtful.

"Help...Me...."

Otherwise known as "Texts from Last Night's Concert".

"Did I mention this was a rock concert? Some guy in front of us just turned around and was like...'Are you ready to rock the @#$* out??' ..Yikes."

"I've never seen so many skinny jeans in my life."

"Help...me..."

"The guy from the opening band just smoked 7 cigarettes at once and then ATE THEM. LIT. Where am I??"

"This is the cover of the next band's album. WHAT???"

"Near-death by mosh pit. Is it over yet? Where is Anberlin??"

"The guys keep saying to me, 'I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.' "

(1 hour later)

"ANBERLIN IS AWESOME!!!!!!"

And I got to hear one of my favorite songs live. See below.

In all seriousness, we had no clue what we were getting ourselves into with this concert. We all love Anberlin and were excited to see them. However we were all feeling a bit lazy and didn't really look into who the other bands were.

Lesson learned. Main lesson? Avoid the floor right in front of the band if one of the headliners is a band described by iTunes as "Neo-progressive emo-punk". Otherwise known as lots of angsty, angry teenagers.

And we still love Anberlin and their awesomeness. Just not their opening bands. :)

Photographs by my awesome husband, since I brought my phone and my license, and nothing else.

Hello...New Jersey...

If any of you are Seinfeld watchers, you will have read that title with the same expression as Jerry saying, "Hello...Newman...".

In case you weren't aware, New Jersey and I are not on good terms. Ever. The one small exception is the town of Cape May, although that's where my brother was in boot camp for the Coast Guard so my pleasant memories are weighed down with his bad ones.

My hatred of New Jersey goes back to childhood. I grew up in North Carolina, and as my grandparents lived in Vermont...we made the trek at least once a year from the South to New England in one long, marathon road trip, usually totaling around 17 hours in a suburban (which usually overheated at least once...in New Jersey).

The few times I've gotten car-sick, oh wait, that was in New Jersey.

Hideous horrible traffic? Yep. New Jersey.

Terrible drivers? New Jersey again.

Now, I have friends and family that I love dearly that are from and are even still currently living in this state, and I commend them for their dedication to the armpit of the East Coast.

But really...when you're on your way home from a long vacation and your GPS looks like this...

...I vote you just bypass the state entirely. Please note that you can't tell that 3/4 of the length of the New Jersey Turnpike was colored red...otherwise known as "Bend Over And Kiss Your Butt Goodbye Crimson".

But I digress.

Except, not really. The whole purpose of this post was to bash New Jersey and to let go of a little post-holiday-travel anger I've been retaining.

I feel much better now. Sorry New Jersey friends, but remember: you always have the choice to move.

Sugar Coma

Well, I've been M.I.A. for a few days and that is mostly due to the fact that I have been a cookie-making MACHINE for almost 72 hours. This only happens once every five years or so, usually about how long it takes for me to forget WHY I don't do this every year.

Now that all the cookies are baked and frosted, I'm moving about as slow as molasses in January and plan on sinking into bed early tonight, and eating nothing but salads for the next week and a half.

Don't worry, the cookies will be in tomorrow's Merry Monday post. But in the meantime, here are some of my favorite wintertime comics to bring a smile to the end of your weekend.

Oh, and if you want some lovely Christmas music to listen to while you chuckle, my best friend Kate has linked up to some great hits here.

Mini-Rant

Join with me for a moment to frown and mutter against the ignorance of some Americans.

My friend Samantha and I were out running a few errands yesterday and stopped by Dunkin' Donuts to pick up some coffees for our husbands, who were playing Rockband babysitting her daughter Ella while we were out.

It was evening, so it was pretty quiet in the store, and only one woman in front of us. Except little did we know, this one woman would take ten minutes to complete her order because she was too busy making them re-make her order twelve times because, as she termed it so pleasantly to Sam and I, "Those ()#*$'ing Indians don't know what they're )@#(#'ing doing and they're probably not even LEGAL..."...and another long string of profanities that I won't share.

In the ten minutes that we waited behind her, she complained about:
1. How much her meal cost (HOW much tax? ...scoff, painstakingly pulls out eight extra cents)
2. Her coffee (can I have MILK in this please?? DO YOU UNDERSTAND ENGLISH?? STAND WHERE I CAN SEE YOU SO I KNOW YOU'RE NOT SPITTING IN MY DRINK)
3. Her sandwich (You burned it! YOU BURNED MY FLATBREAD. I KNOW IT'S BURNED BECAUSE I GET THESE ALL THE TIME. [Really? Because I'm pretty sure you were confused as to why it cost so much...])
4. The service (Could you take any longer? WHY IS THIS TAKING SO LONG. [Again...really? REALLY?])

Finally, this offense to society marched her self-righteous tail out of Dunkin' Donuts and Sam & I, a couple behind us that had witnessed the entire ordeal, and the two sweet Indian ladies working behind the counter, all started to laugh hysterically.

I would like to note that these two ladies completed our order accurately, politely, and quickly.

We all have our moments, I'm guilty too. But let's remember to guard our actions carefully my friends, and not make snap-judgments just because of someone's ethnicity.

Just for the record, it should be illegal to have to work on days like this. Let's get cracking, legislators.

Adulthood

A conversation between me and my friend Sam about my new hair style.

Me: Yeah, I just decided was a good time to have my hair super short. I don't do ballet anymore, and I'm not at all active right now because I work so much so it doesn't matter if I  can get my hair into a pony tail.

Sam: Yay! You really are an adult now!!

... three cheers for my sedentary, adult lifestyle.

Me and my Sam, getting off our sedentary adult
tooshies and taking a walk outside. :)

It's the goal that counts.

Scene from last night's Big Bang Theory episode, as Sheldon and Penny get ready to go running:

Sheldon: Where's your iPod? Your heart monitor?
Penny: Don't have them.
Sheldon: Well what do you DO?
Penny: I just run until I get hungry and then I stop and get a bearclaw.

...my kind of woman.
